But I dont want to workout...

Updated: May 29, 2022

"These are my days to hustle, work hard, create wealth and build enough security for myself and my family" or "Bro, this is the age to live, explore people and places, get as much experience as possible and just chill".

ree

Directly relatable or second-hand relatable?

The most obvious next line would be "This is the mindset of the majority...", but let's not go in a direction where you and I cannot create a major difference today. Lets just talk about a small sub set of the said majority which you most probably are a part of.

Age: 21-40, Not struggling for 4 square meals, a roof over your head and clothing, academically educated and have a career path.

(If you do workout, keep reading so you can show this to your friends whom you have pushed/kicked/dragged to go to workout since eons)

Let me start by saying "I understand you".

You already have a routine which has been imposed on you either by your employer or your clients. You already crave about living a life which you already lived in your mind and have an image of how your life should look like in this age and the coming ages. And it seems like there's so much left to do. Now, if you are told to add another routine on top of this which might get you in perfect shape and have amazing health after a long period of dedication, persistence and discipline, you might want to become James Bond to get the right to kill.

With the amount of information, claims, studies, trends and all kinds of opinions, it definitely gets overwhelming (count me in on this!). Apart from this the choices we have in today's age; yoga, weight training, calisthenics, crossfit, functional training, zumba, dance..., what should I do?, why should I do?, when should I do?, from where should I do? how should I do?, This gets crazy.

Oh! did I mention food and nutrition yet? Let's not open that pandora's box for now.

The point is, I know how you feel and why you feel so.

Now pause a bit. And distance yourself from all this chaos. And bear with me just for a little while longer. Read on!

I am with you in wishing and hoping that you live the life you want to live, acquire more wealth than you ever thought of and get wonders for your eyes to withhold with all the exploration you're about to do.

Just one question though.

Through which medium will all these hopes and wishes be accomplished?

Answer: Through the mind and body that you have got.

Change in perspective:

ree

Workout/exercise/fitness/ mindfulness activities aren't additional branches that you have to add in your already multiple branched tree. It is the trunk of that tree on which these branches grew. You will definitely find fruits on these branches, but if the trunk isn't there, guess how many fruits will that tree bear.

This is exactly what workout is for you. Look at it as an accessory which you might not like to do (in the beginning) for the objective which is very important and dear to you. It was always there to be done, its just that you weren't check listing everything that was needed to be done to achieve the objectives that you like in life.

Another take away:

Question: What is fitness?

Answer: Your current mental, physical and physiological abilities is what your current fitness is.

The objective is to increase your current all round abilities. THAT IS IT!

Now who would not want to increase their abilities. It is through those abilities we will be able to explore life to the fullest.

This is not a motivational blog. Because you don't need motivation. You just need a perspective which is void of the current trending "language" around fitness and void of the "obvious" things to do to kick start your fitness journey. And with this, hopefully you may start a dialogue with yourself about the whole subject and how to explore this dimension as well.

If you have been able to tell yourself that this is important and some steps need to be taken to increase my fitness levels, I know that there will be the next layer of questions. How do I start? What should I do? and How do I do? For that, I would request your patience for the next blog where we can address all these questions and rest it once and for all.

There is one more factor that I have saved for the last.

Time.

The lack of it is probably the biggest hurdle in your life and there

seems to be no way around it. I will offer a solution right away and I challenge you to give me a rebuttal. The solution is scale up the timeline and try not to look too closely at the seemingly-cumbersome process this entails.

Look at it this way, you just need to workout for 3-4 hours a week. That is 3-4 hours in 168 hours.

Another question: Dont you think you can realistically take out about 2% of your weekly time to explore your own body's abilities?

Answer: YOU HAVE TIME and you know it.

Lets take a step. Today!
